Land Reunion 2008

This year the Land Reunion was once again held at Sharp Mountain Baptist Church in their well appointed fellowship hall. It was an extremely hot day, and we were all grateful for the air conditioning. What weenies we have become since the old days when we had dinner right outside the followship hall along the tables with NO covering and NO air conditioning in the church where many of the adults would go to sing following lunch.

Rachel snapped this of David looking all big, bad, and mean.

All of Marvin's family represented at the reunion.....along the back you can see from left to right Jack, David, and John. Starting at the left again you see Pat, Barbara's grandaughter, Barbara, Barbara's grandson, Rachel, Lisa, Kathy, and Gwen. In front of Lisa is Sherry. In front of her are her two kids and all the way on the right is another one of Barbara's grandkids.

Another shot.....

The gravesite of "Pa Jim" and Granny Land.

One of Pa Jim's and Granny's young daughters.

Another daughter.....
Aunt Dessie and Uncle Roy's two infant sons are buried in this plot as well.

Here are close-ups of their headstones.

The view down the hill (now that they've cut all the trees to build houses) from Granny's grave towards Highway 5.

The view down the cemetery drive looking from Granny's grave. The church is on the other side of the trees on the left.

This image was taken later at Daddy's at the lake.

Looking out across the lake.

From the end of Amy Lane looking back up to Marvin Land Lane across the pasture at the lake.

All the Daylillies at the end of Amy Lane.

I love this image of the old tractor (?) sitting in the pasture.

When I was a little girl this was the tree where the "path" down to the lake took a turn and then opened up the bank along the lake. I remember standing under this tree with Pa Land more than once.....

On the other side of the lake heading towards the lake.

The roadside at the end of Amy Lane looking up towards where the homes of Granny Land and Pa Land used to be (at the top of the hill)

Taken down at the old barn site. See the wooden stake in the middle....That's where the middle of the road will be once they widen it. :(

A wider shot....go to the middle of the picture and then down to the brown spot. That's where the stake is in the picture shown above.

Standing where Pa Land's walkway used to begin looking towards the garden site on the left of the road. In the upper middle section of the picture you can see another stake signifying the "new" middle of the road.

My driver for our little tour around Papa Buddy's place. :)
